Christmas Toy Drvie Update

An update for you on the Christmas Toy Drive and distribution. 400 new toys were donated during The "Fill The Sleigh" operation in conjunction with the Munford Christmas Parade. The Munford High School Championship Band donated another 175 toys. There have been other individuals and businesses who have donated new toys to Tipton Cares. Thanks again to all who have helped. To date we have distributed 1,345 toys, and 72 coats to 91 families, and 182 children. Toys and coats are being picked up daily.

We still have a few Tipton Cares cookbooks available. The cost is $10.00 and they would make a great gift for someone who has everything.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

The Best Move Yet!

The days and nights beginning in August have been long ones as we have once been moving Tipton Cares from 305 Quinton Dr. to 61 Quinton Dr. On Monday, September 15, 2008, the move was completed. Our volunteers swept the blue building clean and at 1:30 in the afternoon, we turned the building back over to the owner. We want to say thanks to all our staff, our volunteers, and community service workers who help to make this move possible in just a few days.

We opened the new Thrift Store at 61 Quinton Dr. for the first time on September 16, 2008, and we had the best day that we have had in many months. This should prove to be the best location for Tipton Cares. We have air condintioning, a paved parking lot, a big office and a very good location.

We are already working on getting together the canned goods and the turkeys that will be needed for our Thanksgiving Food Boxes this year. In years past we set a goal of distributing 75 food boxes to families in Tipton County. This year we have set a goal of being able to distribute at least 100 Thanksgiving Food Boxes. We will need your help to collect the amount of food that it will take to distribute the Thanksgiving Food Boxes and to continue to distribute food boxes on a weely basis to those who need them. We have seen a sharp increase in requests for assistance with our Emergency Food Boxes. For a list of food that is needed please give us a call or e-mail us. We are looking for you or your church to help us this year.

Also, let us know it you would like to adopt a family for Thanksgiving or Christmas. You will receive many blessings and it is very rewarding to know that you were responsible for another family having a turkey and all the trimmings for their Thanksgiving Day meal.

Volunteers are always needed at Tipton Cares. We have volunteer opportunities in Covington, Munford and for those who want to volunteer in thier community. E-Mail me for more information on volunteer opportunities in your area.

Happy Fourth of July To All!

Happy Fourth of July to all from the staff of Tipton Cares. It has been a very exciting time for us and we will not have time to share all the news in this post. At the last Board Meeting Lisa Montgomery was elected as our new Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Mary Johnson is our new Vice-Chairperson. We want to thank both of these ladies for their volunteer service to Tipton Cares and look forward to working with them in the coming months.

Thanks again to David Thomas for serving as Chairman of the Board for the past 2 years. Dave has been a great help in the ongoing work and ministry of Tipton Cares.

We had a great time last week taking the Kids to Camp on Monday and picking them up on Saturday. According to the Director of the Camp we had a real good group of kids this year and they had a great time. Thanks to all who helped again this year to make Kids to Camp a great success. We are already planning and working on Kids to Camp for 2009. We would love to have you volunteer to help us with this worthy project.

We are working on getting a web-site up and running for Tipton Cares. You will be able to find us at tiptoncares.org, but please be patient as the new site is not ready yet.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July and don't forget to pray for Tipton Cares. God knows our needs for this month. We are still waiting on you to contact us and volunteer a few hours a week. What are you waiting for? Contact us today and volunteer. Remember we are "Neighbors Helping Neighbors."

Don't forget the next Board Meeting will be held, Monday, July 28 at 7:00 pm at Munford First United Methodist Church in room A-14. The meeting is open to the public and you are invited to attend.

Fire!, Fire!, Fire!, Call 911 Our House Is On Fire!

Fire!, Fire,! Fire!, Call 911 Our House Is On Fire! These are words that no one wants to hear. But what happens after these words are heard? Someone call 911, the Fire Department is toned out, paid and volunteer firefighters rush to the scene of the burning house. All of the occupants stand outside watching their house and a lifetime of memories go up in smoke. After a time the firefighters begin to pack up their equipment and return to the station. A family begins to think about where they will spend the night, and where they will spend tomorrow night and the night after that. Reality begins to set in. This is not going to be easy. For the kids and the parents involved fear about the future begins to creep in.

This is one more important ministry of Tipton Cares. Over the past number of months there have been a number of residential fires in Tipton County and a number of families have come to us for assistance. Helping a family after a fire takes on a number of different faces. Sometimes they need clothes, furniture, help finding a place to stay, etc. One of the things that we want to be able to do is to provide emergency housing for a family for up to five days and nights if necessary. What does it take to meet this goal? I'm glad you asked. We need around $100.00 per day to pay for a motel room and help with meals.

We are not just "another poor person asking for a handout". Funds donated to us will be used to provide assistance to our neighbors. A fire is a real traumatic event for those involved. Before you go out of town for a Memorial Day Weekend getaway, before you fire up the grill in the backyard this Memorial Day, let's work together to make sure our "Emergency Fire Funds" are in place. Click the "donate" button on the left, or sit down and write the check today. Let's all sleep better knowing that when emergencies happen, some of the answers are already taken care of. Our prayer is that we will not get another call about a house fire. But let's be ready if and when that call comes. Want to go one step further? We are looking for volunteers to be on call to help us provide the needed assistance when we get a fire call. We are looking for volunteers that will work closely with the family until we have provided all of the needed assistance. Donate and volunteer today! Have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Happy Mother's Day To All Mothers

Happy Mother's Day To Moms Everywhere! May God Bless You Each And Every Day. Today's color red is to remind us of red roses on Mothers Day. God has been so good to us. My heart is broken as I think of all of the single moms who are struggling trying to raise the children and work a full time job just to make ends meet. Your financial contribution to Tipton Cares will help us provide assistance to a mother who's husband passed away in April. She came to us seeking help to pay the rent because the landlord was going to make her move. I cannot tell you all of the stories that have come our way recently, please on this Mother's Day remember to pray for all the moms who have come to us for assistance and for those who will come next week and the week after that. The Bible says, "you have not because you ask not." So I must ask, Please sit down today, and write a check to help support the ministry of Tipton Cares. We cannot help others without your help. God is so Good and we are trusting Him to meet the needs.

Thanks Mom!

P.S. We still have a limited number of Tipton Cares Cookbooks. For a donation of $10.00 or more we will give you a copy of our cookbook. For more information e-mail us at tiptoncares@gmail.com or call 901-840-2273.

April Showers Of Blessings!

April is here and we have already had plenty of April showers. We want to say thanks to those who made a financial donation during March. We still need to raise $2,500 more each month. We are looking for 100 churches, groups, or individuals who would make either a one time donation or make a committment to give $25.00 each month for 10 months. Some will be able to give more and some less. Know for sure that "little is much" when God is in it.

A special thanks to all who worked so hard during March to help us do some Spring Cleaning. I had a wonderful time on March 30th at Munford First United Methodist Church. I was given the opportunity to preach in both the 8:00 am and 10:00 an services. Thanks again, for the opportunity to preach and for all you do for us at MFUMC.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help us at our new Covington location at 133 West Pleasant St. Our hours are 9:00 am until 2:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday. We need enough volunteers to expand our hours and add one or two more days at this location. Thank you First Baptist Church, Covington for giving us the opportunity to move to the square. Beginning

May 3, 2008 Tipton Cares, Inc. has been given the opportunity to provide the ice cream concessions at "Music On The Square". We will be needing volunteers for 8 Saturday nights. Come and enjoy some good music and volunteer.

Do you like to talk on the telephone? We are looking for some special people who would be willing to make some phone calls for us. Yes, you can work at home! Contact Bro. Allen P. Brown at tiptoncares@gmail.com or at 840-2273.

Looking forward to working with you in April.
